Listless with diarrhea

I decided to first find out if my flock has worms before before shoving chemicals down their throat. I called around and was referred to a local large animal veterinarian who will do a fecal exam. They are no poultry experts but are willing to research the medication and dosage for a wormer should my birds have intestinal parasites.

Fecal exam is done and came back negative! I'm glad I did this. It's nice to know that the girls are parasite free. I might do this on an annual basis. I wasn't very expensive and sure beats medicating animals when not needed.

I just have to share this and am sure you all can relate: Normally (as we all know), chickens poop everywhere and all the time, but when you actually want them to, they seem to hold back. I stood there this morning at 25 degrees (in my jammies) and watched 13 fuzzie chicky butts for action... and finally - after 20 minutes of freezing had 3 fresh samples in the baggie...
