She just shocked us by laying the egg on our kitchen floor just now during playtime. Niblet is 1 month older and has not started laying yet.

You're not going to believe this....she just laid another one!!! It's smaller and doesn't have a shell.

Has anyone else had a duck lay her first and second egg an HOUR apart??? I still can't believe she did that! What are the chances she will keep laying more than one egg a day?

Lisyla took a break the day after laying 2 eggs and only laid one yesterday, so I guess her system has regulated now. She lays eggs that have a greenish coating, but when washed they are such a pretty peachy tinted white.

I love to bake with my duck eggs.

I can't wait until I have enough to try baking with them. I wish Niblet would hurry up and start laying.

They just make everything so much more moist, you'll love using them. I also steam them and use them to feed our dogs. I even feed them back to the ducks and chickens I crush them up with the shells and put thawed peas in with them and some warm water to make a mushy mash and stand back and watch them go to town. My dh won't eat them so I use them as a supplement to the meat I cook for our dogs. How old is Niblet, she should be laying soon?.
