Literal button quail

I will have to take a picture of this king next to a normal size king and u will see the size difference..

Not sure if anyone is still on this thread, but i have the same issue with my female quail!

She is 6 weeks old, and i know for a fact she is 6 weeks because i hatched her myself. but she is still the size of a 3 week old quail.

She has full feathers, and is healthy in all aspects apart from being a lot more tired than the other quail. She seems to have trouble breathing when she is around more quail? When she is kept on her own with a heat lamp she perks up and has no issues...i'm really confused lol.

She is currently indoors with me and some of my last batch of quails, who are now 3 weeks and the same size as her haha!

She doesn't seem to do well off the heat so i can't put her in an aviary, and have no choice but to make her an indoor home to live out the rest of her life.

I don't know how long she will live like this? And i don't know how to keep her company if she remains here with me.

How has your tiny quail been doing?

Sorry for the late reply, for some reason I didn't get a notification
I'm not too sure what's happening with ur quail maybe she is having issues regulating her own body temperature from being so small.
My little quail is doing really great, small but great lol.

I had the same problem. The quail had bad feet and just didn't grow. It had adult feathers, but was much smaller than the other quail. It finally died after 3 weeks. I had given it a little dose of vitamins (poultry drench) which gave it diarrhea. I'm not sure if it would have died anyway, but I felt that it needed something to assist with nutrition. I have read that it could have had deformities in its gastrointestinal system that prevented it from absorbing nutrients needed for growth. Basically failure to thrive.

Thats sad, im sorry to hear. I still have one of my bad feet quails, she is doing amazing. I just continuously check to make sure toe nails dont grow into the skin. I massage aswell and make sure she doesnt show signs of distress or pain.. but she doesnt lay egges, which isnt exactly a bad thing.
