I said I'd never let chickens stay in the house . Little girl is in my shower. I guess tomorrow will be headed to the vet. I'm trying as hard as I can but going no where. She's eating well but can't dump the egg so we are going to the vet. She is one of my girls & I don't want her to die.

Give her a nice long warm bath and gently rub her belly front to back. I let my hen soak for about a half hour and then did it again the next day. The third day she laid her egg. Good luck!

I have a habitual egg bound hen. The first few times I gave her a warm bath and she layed an egg shortly after the bath. I, too used a hair dryer and she didn't seem to mind at all. She continually gets egg bound, but seems to have figured out herself how to work it out after a day or two. I will often find eggs underneath the roost bar in the morning after she's been egg bound for a day or two. Recently I crushed a tums and put it in some yogurt to help get some additional calcium and push out the egg. That also seemed to work a little. I wish you the best of luck at the vet. I know I'm willing to do anything to help one of my girls.

I just checked on her & she still has the egg in her. Poor thing. Wish I could help her. Whats weird is you sit there & think about all that's happened in her life. I sure hope the vet can help her. She's my first concern in the am.

Yes > I tried. I took her to the vet & he lubed the egg up & gave her a shot of antibiotics. The vet said to leave her in her natural environment. I just got back from the coop & no luck she still has the egg in her.I took her off the roost & put her in a nest box's. I want her to lay the egg real bad.. The vet said I should remove the roo from the flock till she passes the egg. I haven't done this yet. I think the roo won't bother her if she stays in the nest box's. Thanks, for your concern.

My crazy girl will lay eggs at night on the roost bar when she becomes egg bound. Earlier this week she passed two eggs in one night. One was a soft shelled egg and the other was completely normal. Keep up hoping and let us know how it turns out please!
