little breed help please

Yeah I just looked at the link Lothiriel put up on here and he looks like a hatchery stock version of the gold cuckoo marans shown there

Well they are my grandparents birds and they only get brown from their flock but they have a mixed flock so there's not much telling which eggs are who's but I'm thinking that they are darker brown because for a little bit they had several Cornish X hens in with a few "gold cuckoo marans" as we'll call them and they got several light brown eggs and only a few dark brown ones

I can't remember the name of the place, it was somewhere in Pennsylvania I think though, it seems like the order confirmation letter was from Pennsylvania, but they are pretty "stocky" birds about as meaty (but not as big) as a cornish X but a bit taller

Idk there just too many just alike to say they are mutts

I understand completely. I have a 'breed' of 'mutts' I found that had incredible conformation and color genetics are running even (soon) so I labeled it a breed, and that's how the breed began. To read more about it look up these threads:
Bow Lake Rising
English Partridge
Bantam in General thread

I was just "positive" they were pure bred because they came form a hatchery ad in our local electric coop magazine. They are technically my cousins and my birds, they were ordered by my grandparents because gma and gpa can't say no to our constant "when you getting more chickens? When you getting us some chicks?" Lol! Once we finish the coop up at my cousins house I'll make sure the "mutt gold cuckoo marans" (lol) go in a separate breeding pen and we'll wait and see for the results!

However, the pics and description on here looks like our roo, he's definitely not show quality, he's hatchery stock

He looks similar to a legbar. If any of the girls lay blue eggs, that would be the breed. Usually pretty expensive chicks, though. Did you ask your grandparents what they ordered?
