Hi Everyone,

I have been reading a lot of posts on here, and its sad that my first ever post is about my sick girl. I have been reading up on what I can do for my little Morticia. She's been to the vet 4 days ago and is on antibiotics. The vet said she had a virus, but I can't remember what she said the virus was called...

Shes a cross breed from the feed shop. She is about 5 weeks old. She started with head flicking and sitting alot, Then last Saturday she was wobbly on her feet, She was eating and drinking fine, and chirping, but got worse over the week. She has curled toes and is walking on her wings and stands on her "elbows" She's been sick for about a week and a half now. She looks like shes slipping when walking, but if I put her on the carpet, she can get a grip, just.

The other three girls don't have any symptoms, Apart from light brown runny poos. The is no other obvious injuries. I took her to the vet, and the vet checked her over and she had a temperature of 40'
Shes been eating the chick starter that I got from the feed shop I bought her from,( it's medicated feed) Her poos were sticky brown colour, and had blood in it when she did more solid poos. But since being on the antibiotics, she has better poos than the other girls!

The vet put her on antibiotics 4 days ago. They gave her flagyl s susp it says on the syringe, she is to take it for 7 days in total. She seems to be better, but she is still very weak in the legs. She is eating fine and seems bright. Her bedding is pine shavings, and shes separated from the others. I had pine shavings in there at first, but they girls kept flicking it everywhere. so I put down plain paper for a few days leading up to her first symptoms.

Her eyes are fine and shes eating fine, its just her little legs that arent working for her. I have the next few days off, so if I can be doing something with her legs to help her, any advice would be wonderful please! I wont give up on her until I try everything. She is my favourite girl, and its sad to see her like this.

Just thought I'd let you know this little chick survived and is now one of the biggest girl I have :)
She had her legs taped for about 4 days, to help her legs from slipping out from underneath her. I removed the taped and kept her separated for 3 days from the others, to giver her time to gain strength, and she bounced back perfectly!
