My little silkie yorkie has never had a littler of pups herself and is 12 years old. My husband and I decided to raise some silkie chicks this past year and once we brought the chicks home she has been mothering them! She laid beside the cage when they were still under a warmer in the house. If I got them out she wanted to cuddle up with them. If people came over to see them she would growl and stand in front of them! They are now outside in the yard and in the coop and she has to be right next to them at all times! The silkie chickens are now 6 months old and they follow her around the yard. When they are laying down, so is she...must be something about owning silkies that they have a connection to one another! Either way she is a mama to her adopted babies!

The funny part is that my cockerels chase her around and try jumping on her back. I think they see here as a mother to their future off-springs!
