Little Giant 7 gallon waterer... Is it top-filling? Do you own one??

I have the 5 gal waterer and I truly dislike it. I filled it the other day and went out to make sure I didn't need to refill it. The whole 5 gallons were gone and the coop floor was soaked. The o ring on the top gets streched out and it doesn't stay vac sealed. We are going this weekend to Agri to get a new waterer. I had to go back to the old 2 gal metal waterer. yuk.

I had the same problem after only something like 3 fill ups. Haven't used mine in months.

I had that happen once. I don't know if it was because the top was not on right or maybe the waterer wasn't level. I'm not sure. Overall though, I still like the waterers. What do you all use that you like better?

If you keep the O rings lubed, and CLEAN, they work as they are meant to work.

I've had mine for years, and have no problems unless the rings get too dirty.

It only takes a minute to wipe them off and put some vegetable oil or vaseline on them

I've never had a bottom fall off and the only time it's leaked is if the top is not on right. with these you like them or you don't, but I've not found anything better, if they freeze they don't crack

I use mainly plastic bell style waterers I get at TSC. You have to twist of the bottom tray thing, flip the "bell" over to fill, and twist bottom back on. Flip over and set out for chickens. That bell shape holds the vacuum very well. I have several 1 gallon and two 3 gallon sizes. For winter I have one that is similar to those, but it has a stopper in the bottom down near the heater core where you fill it using a hose or funnel. I'll also be using heated dog bowls.
