I prefer dry. This is the methodology that I use: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidityamylynn2374 what is your opinion on a wet or dry hatch in the past i have added water from the very start but im thinking of doing a dry hatch this time i live in florida so its pruty humid here..
And...I'm beginning to think that the blue/silver chicks that hatched are the two EEs...lol Their cheeks are looking pretty fluffy..... The girl I bought the eggs from said they could be crossed from a cochin, but I am seeing either muffs or tufts...lolyes those lil blues sure are cute..
Look how big they are now!
This is a great article. Thanks Amy. We are trying our first quail hatch. At first we did not humidify but now we are. And after reading this, I'm not certain we should be. We just bought a humidity gauge yesterday.I prefer dry. This is the methodology that I use: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity
When you candle make sure that you are candleing from the top (air cell) down into the egg. If nothing else it'll give you a good picture of your air cell (unless it's vastly different w/quail) and usually you can at least make out the veining around the air cell. I don't have a straong light to candle and sometimes with the green eggs, that's all I can see to know that they are developing is veinging around the air cell. Already we've experienced a huge problem bc we tried candling at 7 days but we cannot see through those quail shells at all. Talk about doing all this on the blindside!! We only put a dozen eggs in the bator, but still, if we totally goof up and get no chicks , it sure will be disappointing.
