can you put quail eggs in an egg turner for chicen eggs
we chose not to bc the size is so much larger and didn't want them rolling around too much. So we purchased a box of quail rails. They were not that expensive. We figured it wasn't worth taking a chance the eggs would roll around or fall out of the chicken turners. We are new at raising birds but we felt we lucked out on our very first incubation and we got a 9/12 quail hatch. Now we are awaiting the arrival of a 27 egg incubation. Good luck with yours:)

It is in the same place as last hatch that was 96%. Once I got everything set it was fine. Doing every thing the same (although humidity outside has changed greatly this time of year). Both of my hygrometers have been calibrated. Once side of the incubator reads a different humidity than the other side. I was careful not to place the sensors over the water wells just to make sure I got a fair reading.

Took forever to get my temperature up, almost 12 hours. I wonder if that was because my husband set the lid upside down on the chair when I was preparing for lock down. As finicky as they are, it may have bumped the thermostat and messed it all up. I usually make sure nothing touches the top and I move it like its made of fragile glass after reading all the complaints about it.

The one difference is I don't have the bator full of eggs. I had split them between the two since I didn't want to double stack and hand turn any.

I even keep my house temp between a certain degree to control the incubator temps. This thing is driving me crazy. I have paper towels , extra bowls, and all the channels full of water. Was fixing to get some sponges. I think I will just leave it alone since one side reads good and hope for the best. I decided to move all of my purchased eggs into the hovabator. I moved out a few that did not make it to lock down, so moved those over and left my BYM in the LG.

I really wanted to see if someone Else's eggs would hatch the same in the LG. My high hatch rates in it has been my own eggs. I intend to order some shipped eggs from the same breeder and see what happens between the two incubators. The LG has been complicated to find its likes but I have had good hatches. Now it's making me scream.

Yes a showgirl is a silkie/nn cross and a breed of it's own....lol But from my understanding and research it takes quite a few generations starting with the nn/silkie cross then the crossxsilkie to get a good fluffy quality showgirl. So if I start from scratch I have a long road ahead of me...lol

Amy.... I was considering seeing if the gal that I got my duck/turkey eggs from would happen to have a turkey about the age of mine since only one of mine hatched (I think she was incubating the same time I was), so I looked at her FB page... and guess what she has??? SHOWGIRLS!!! I gotta see if she has some eggs....

It's funny cause I was "singing" Copacabana one day and that night out of the blue my 7 year old son says, "Mom, why do they call Lola a showgirl? She isn't even a chicken." lol
