"Little Giant" incubator from Tractor Supply?

Hi,
I have 2 LG still air.......1 with a turner
As I have learned from BYC information and sharing..my hatches have improved.
If I were to do it over again, I would save and get a really good inc...............
but I am not unhappy with what I have learned with these. I use one for hatching when I have staggered hatch.
I have learned about humidity.I do better running a little higher at lock down....
Think this depends on location... It is so dry in our house that we keep water simmering on the stove for ourselves
.also run my temp at 102 with the thermometer on the metal tray.
started by putting it in top of eggs..................then realized it was really off at the bottom of the eggs.

Just a few examples of learning to fine tune for myself.
I am getting good hatches now but took some practice.
Good Luck and most of all, HAVE FUN

hey i may get me a hovabator, but there is a free incubator that i know of if i just had the car to pick it up in, it is a cabinet, an "Antique" incubator, for FREE, but i might as well forget it i have 4 bators at the moment, forgot to mention that it is in great working condition

Especially the advice about keeping the room temp regulated!
My neighbor keeps his incubator out on his porch, so I had no idea that the room temp wad important.
Again, thanks everyone!

Looked these up on Amazon and it is NOT the same price as the LG. I spent less than $80.00 on our LG + the turner at Tractor Supply. Is there a better price somewhere else?

this is the best I have found so far

That is a bit cheaper, wonder how they can sell them for so much less than other places? We may end up going to one of those, but I dought it. We have a friend that raised chicks for a while and now they want to get rid of ALL their stuff, so I may be getting all of it from them. Not sure what kind of bator they have, but I know it was purchased on-line. Just waiting to hear back from them.

I bought the still air one from TSC for my dad's birthday recently. We have 3 eggs in there that are developing very well!

We have had some temperature fluxuations, and the temp. does go up in the day and down at night slightly. It's also difficult to fine-tune ebcause the thermostat is very precise. Be prepared to have at LEAST 1/2 hour to toggle with the temperature. For the money (like 40 bucks), I'm happy with it. I'll be even mroe happy if we get a few little duckies a week from Sunday.

Crayonsmom brings up a good point. If you open it and have to bring it back up to temp have a good 3-4 hours set aside to make sure it goes up to temp with out issues. fluctuations between 98-102 is OK. Remember still airs can run higher then one with a fan.

That's something I didn't know about the safe range for temperature. I won't be so worried about keeping it just right now. :p

I wanted to smack myself the time the temperature was a little high, so I turned it down. Too cold. I then turned it up, but didn't wait long enough for the temperature to climb and turned it up more. Of course, I had to run off somwhere for a few hours. I came home to 110 degrees!

Amazingly the eggs didn't get hot enough to die. Lately we've just been letting it fluxuate a bit, as long as it's not too much.
