Little Giant Incubator Lock Down Question

I'm not asking about when to lock down. I just want to know about the large plastic sheet being in the way of chicks hatching out and how I should ensure their safety.

I'm sorry! I knew you weren't asking about when to lockdown. I was just offering unsolicited information again. I have a bad habit of doing that. Of course I don't know any useful information about the plastic sheet/wire thingy. This is the first time I have seen that and I must say I don't understand the logic behind doing it that way.

The logic behind "it" is keeping the probe close to the eggs for a more accurate reading and to keep the probe from falling between the eggs etc. According to the manufacture the probe is a sensor for the thermometer.
