Am planning on coming to Maine sometime in August. Will be going up to Patten (near Baxter State Park) then down towards the coast to Hancock (a little north of Ellsworth) and down into northern Massachusetts if I find a chicken sitter. I had a fellow that I had great trust in but he died so now i'm looking for another trustworthy person. I have a lot of birds so it's quite a bit of work. I have 10 coops.

My first hatch in the roll-x is going wonderfully! Out of 40 set, I had four early deaths (by day 14) and 13 clears. 23 eggs went into lockdown (a day early actually) on Monday and day 21 is actually tomorrow but......I have 4 out completely, 7 externally pipped and 12 more to go after that and a whole other day still before scheduled hatch day!!!!! Its amazing what correct temps, proper turning and correct humidity can do!

At the moment, I have 12 eggs in my coolerbator (there was a staggered hatch in the roll-x so I moved those 3 eggs to the coolerbator). 9 of them are on day 10 and 3 are on day 13. When I ordered the fans for the coolerbator, I ordered 4 as they were like 99cents on ebay.....thinking that I was going to build a big cabinet bator, I thought I would use them for that. Well they arrived and they were soooo small, so I placed 2 in the coolerbator hooked to a cell phone charger (not great power but decent air circulation) and last night I placed one in the Little Giant! I actually found a 12V plug that was left over from a wireless router so that was perfect! Plugged it up last night, and adjusted the thermostat (when I pulled the last hatch out of there I turned it all the way down! I was determined I was done with it) and after a few minor adjustments, It is maintaining abut 99-100° consistently!!!! I will leave it running empty for a few days, then place the turner in there and monitor for a few days! If all goes well, I may give hatching in it another go!

I am running out of room for everyone as it is, and I have chicks listed everywhere!!! I have 22 in the bottom level of the brooder ( Delaware's and barred rocks for my sex links-they are 4 weeks old) 4 in the top level ( They will be 2 weeks on Saturday) and if all goes well I will have approximately 20-23 in the brooder box inside. If I have to make another pen I will, but those that don't go or lay eggs will turn into dinner!!!!

Hope everyone is having a great hatch!

I put my eggs into lock down yesterday and found out that the turner wasn't plugged in. Ugh! Last time I incubated, I kept coming in to check it was almost always in the same spot so I didn't think about it too much if the turner was in the same position when I checked this time. So that means these eggs were incubated without any turning. I almost have no hope for a good outcome but I'm giving them the chance to hatch.
