Little Giant Incubator Tricks

There is a Swedish flower hen breeder in PA, Claysburg. He sells a lot on ebay. Seems rather good to work with. I had 50% and it was my first time hatching.

I will have to look for him. I got some froma BYCer for my next go around, and I found a place in TN with some, but she won't have any for another month.

Well, here we go again! I'm not doing a staggered hatch this time! I added just a bit of water and will leave it alone.
Good luck...

Turner with fan. Makes life easier.

RH of 40% and temp is 97 after putting eggs that felt a bit cool to the touch in, and it had dropped to 93 while I was putting the eggs in. It was only a couple hours ago or so. I won't fuss about temp until tomorrow.

The temp will be ok. If left for a day or so the eggs could hatch a few hours to a couple of days late. The humidity is good. It take hours for the eggs to come up to temp internally, so I agree, check the temp tomorrow. If you do adjust it it could go too high when the ideal internal temp of the eggs is reached.

It's come up nicely to 99. and so the wait begins again!

This time around, I took a bit of thin surgical tubing and a syringe and put the tubing through the hole for the fan wire and laid the free end in the well in case I need to add water. I'll do the same to the hatcher so I can easily increase humidity. I had trouble with that last time and had a very difficult time keeping RH up the last 3 days.

I think you have a great idea. Here are some pictures of how I deal with the humidity especially during lockdown. Good luck...

I put the jar in the corners opposite the fan and thermostat.

I use a wash bottle with a straw like you do with the tubing.

This is how I keep the jars filled with water during lockdown. I have some different size wash bottles.

The wash bottles are actually where I got the idea, but I couldn't find any like that. But I was going through some stuff yesterday left over from my littlest baby's last surgery and thought hmm, I could adapt this, since I don't have any jars to hold sponges. I'll have to get a photo.
