Little Giant Incubator

Is that clear part the small end or fat end of the egg?
I'd like to see the fat end for the size of the air cell.
Okay, that’s the small end. Is it okay to flip them around? I’m so worried about jostling them lol

Turn them slowly. A hen kicks the eggs around in the nest several times a day and night.
That's about right for the look of the small end for an egg at that stage.
Just put the light source on the fat end to see how big the air cell has grown.
Eggs need to lose about 13% of their weight during incubation. That weight loss is from moisture loss due to transpiration.

Hey y’all that are familiar with the Little Giant! I’m having trouble keeping the humidity up in the 60s for my chicks to hatch in my incubator.
-I have plenty of warm water in it
-I usually have the two red plugs out and partially covering the holes to circulate the air

There is a fan and a heater in this incubator. The humidity has remained between 55 and 60 this whole time, and the temp has been between 99.0 and 100.8. But I know the humidity needs to be higher for hatching. We have candled and the chicks are developing great -and so far everything has been very smooth sailing! I just don’t want them to be shrink wrapped while they’re trying to be born.
Thank you!!
Oh my.
Throw the red plugs away.

I use this incubator and there's no way in the world I would run my humidity that high the whole time.

That is plenty high enough for hatching.

So I wasn’t able to get a pic, since my hubby photographer isn’t in the house. But if the egg was separated into 7 sections, the air cell would take up about 1/7 of the egg. And it’s clear. I don’t know what other description you may need. It is also much much lighter than when it went into the incubator!

This is all new to me! all the research told me to keep it between 50 and 66. But it’s been in the lower 50s. Thankfully I don’t think i disrupted much by having that much humidity, phew! Thanks for the tip! I’m glad I found this chicken page when I did. Lol
