Little Giant problems----UPDATE----

I must have the black sheep of LG.

My temp stays constant wherever I set it...

the next time your LG are empty, try this: make sure it is dry inside.

then set the temp to 100.5F to 101..
now pour 1 ounce of warm water through one of the vent holes.. do not open the bator.. your humidity should go up and the temp should go steady at 99,5F

I would like to trade mine for one that dose not move on the temp. Yes they do swing. I am glad someone told us their high temp.an still had a hatch . thank you...

My temp has fluctuated a lot this time but I didn't have as much trouble keeping my humidity up this time. My temp hit 103.5 a time or two but I'm hoping I caught it before the eggs hit that temp. Also, it's been a little low a few times, basically I'd say it's been anywhere from 98-101.5--I was aiming for 100 so I'm hoping the fluctuation's will balance out. This batch is due in two days and I had one rolling just an hour ago. Here's hoping...

I also will be hatching Sat in my LG. My temps have been between 100.6 and 101.7. It would go up and down somtimes at night id have to cover half of it with a towel to keep the temps from dropping under 99.9. Just lastnight it started staying between 101 and 102 I stayed up till 3 worried to death till I learned as the chick develops the heat will rise. So we shall see what happens sat. I have 6 healthy looking babies growing so I hope every eles works out well too.

My LG was dead stable for the first 18 days with the exception of the 2 times we candled, but it jumped right back to temp. quickly......until the hatching started! OMG! I haven't slept for 2 days because as soon as chicks started hatching on Saturday the temp went wacky--fluctuating to extremes of only 98 and up to 103. I was expecting the humidity to go up during the hatch, but the temp was all over the place.

Now, almost 1/2 way through Day 23, I only have 4 chicks out of 12 eggs! I haven't lost all hope as several people have said that still air incubators usually have cool & hot spots causing early or late hatches. I had my first pip on Friday evening around 5:30 (Day 21), although it didn't hatch until late on Day 22. Currently, I'm holding out and hoping that a few more will decide to make an appearance--if the crazy temp. fluctuations at the end didn't do them in.

I'm picking up the fan kit tomorrow for my next hatch that is waiting to be set. If it doesn't do any better with the fan, then I'm trashing this one and buying a good one! This is way too much headache for no pay-off! :-(

I have two brand new LG incubators, I plugged them in, tweaked the thermastat a couple of times and had it set perfectly on 101.

If the room temperature fluctuates, the temperature in the LG fluctuates. . . .

I have been wondering if all of these wild heat 'spikes' could be eliminated by installing a new thermostat in the older LG that are having problems ???

If you guys are really going to dispose of your LG incubators and get 'better' ones, keep me in mind, please.

Just drop me a pm and we will discuss sending them to my house

when ever your humidity changes, your temp changes.

I have posted this all over this site, but not everybody has read it yet,and most ignore it..
