LITTLE GIANT STILL AIR INCUBATORS... ANYBODY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM?

I dont use thelm i still use the one that came with the bator. i belive i would put thelm in the same place but if others tell you different i would go with what they say on that. For humidity i just fill the water wells and keep a check on thelm and add water as needed. I have 3 Lg's 1 hoverbator and one sportsman. I do love the sportsman but i really like the Lg's.

I use an LG and have good luck with it. You have to keep an eye on the temps tho. It works much better with the forced air fan that you can buy for it and you definitely need a thermometer/hygrometer set up. I just hatched 17 out of 21 two weeks ago. Oh and I hand turn 3 times a day, don't get the auto turner for it.

I am using 3 different incubators. The first is an old hovabator that is over 10 years old, the second one I built and it is working fine and the third is a Little Giant. I have hatched out of all of them and with local eggs that I set in all three the same day, I set 12 in each and all hatched out 9 eggs. With shipped eggs it is always different, depending on how the post office handled the eggs and how far they were shipped. The Hovabator and the Little giant have turners in them, the home built is hand turned. I have been hatching continuosly since the beginning of February, mostly for neighboring 4-Hers. They bring the eggs, set them and do all their monitoring/scribbing of the temps/humidity.

I have learned not to play with the temps much and they will all work well!

ok thanks everybody!! i am going to get the incubator and a diff temp\\hygro meter thats digital so i can make SURE of the temp and humidity!!!

How come no one has mentioned the Brinsea eco?? Only $100.00 is an awfully good price, and you don't have to be skilled to make them work. I'd suggest you take a look at Brinsea.com before you decide.

I have an LG with the fan in it. It works great for me. Once you get the temp adjusted it holds very well. I just hatched 16 chicks out of 18 eggs on the 22nd. The 2 eggs that did not hatch were never viable. I hand turned the eggs 3x a day. My 2nd hatch is going now. This time I have the eggs set in cartons and I'm tilting the bator 3x a day. I keep a small container of water on top that keeps the humidity up instead of trying to fill the rings.

I bought a temp/humidity gauge at walmart for $7 and it works great.

As for the Brinsea, it doesn't hold enough eggs, that is why I never considered it. The price is just too high for the amount I can hatch out of it.

I second the brinesea , there so easy a set it and forget it kind of thing , all the others home made or store bought styro bators althought you can get them to work just fine are much more tepramental , styro bators sepecally the LG and still airs are very very very enviroment dependent if you have them somewhere the swings temp more then a few degrees they will to.

Trouble with Hova Bator is temperature fluctuates with temperature outside incubator. I never had good luck with them.
Broody silkie hens are the best incubators.

The LG will fluctuate with outside temp also. I am in Arkansas and so far the heat and humidity work real well with the LG. If I were still living in Arizona where it gets so hot and is always very dry, I don't know how well it would work.
