This is Wednesday my 12 week old Muscovy. I noticed she wasn't laying with her siblings yesterday. They are always together no matter what. Same thing today. I picked her up this morning and didn't see anything so I set her down in one of their wading pools. She immediately started splashing and acting normal. I watched her feet and she was treading water. When she got out she laid back down instead of her usual run across the yard flapping her wings.
I've felt her legs, feet, tummy...nothing.
Nobody else is having a problem.
They are on Purina All Flock and free range all day. They get fruit and vegetables in the afternoon and meal worms a few times a week.
I supplemented them with niacin until a few weeks ago.
I'm thinking of adding some to their food tonight and putting some electrolytes in her water.
Anything else?? If course the only avian vet is closed.Video

Bless her heart something going on for sure. What type of niacin were you using? And how much were you giving her? I def would dose her with the niacin and place her where she can rest and not try to walk or run around until you can figure out whats going on.

The best thing for a niacin deficiency is Liquid B Complex TSC carries it.
This info explains it and how to give it and what to buy along with dose.

Poor girl. I know if they are egg bound, it can effect their movement. Not sure if that is what is going on or something else. Has she been laying normally?

These people know more about issues like this and can help.

None of my ducks are laying yet. I have a 5 month old that's not laying either. They leave that to the chickens. Lol

I've got the liquid and the powder. So far I've only gotten her to drink a little of the electrolyte water. I've been so crazy with the niacin that I honestly don't think it's that but if it was it's better than thinking she's injured. I left the coop light on tonight so I can see her on the camera better. She's not moving a lot. I wish they could just tell us what is wrong 😩

Is she flying? My Muscovy are so old I can't remember if they were flying at12 weeks but I think they may have been. Just wondering is she may have crashed landed. Or jumped off of something?

I always like to start off with something that we can usually rule out first and that is niacin deficiency. I'd def use the liquid since we've seen such good response with it.

Poor little duck. Watching her struggle like that hurt my heart so I know you're having a hard time seeing her like this. Have you checked her all over really well, especially her neck and spine? Checked her pupils for reaction? I agree with MissLydia about keeping her in a small area to limit movement and keep her safe from any possible flockmate taking advantage of her being unwell (or anything that could try to harm her). I certainly hope she makes a full recovery very soon. I'll be thinking about you and her both ❤️🙏❤️

They don't really fly they just do a running flap across the yard. My husband seems to think that our older drake might have hurt her when he was chasing them out of the pool.
She's moving her neck and swam a little when I put her in the water earlier. I'm hoping it's just a muscle strain...?
I would completely agree about the niacin but she's got 6 siblings with no leg issues and her feet and legs are straight as an arrow. I'm still going to keep adding it just in case.
Thank you ❤️
She's resting in the coop right now and the others are nuzzling her. I guess they know she's not feeling good.

I felt her all over and she didn't flinch or cry. I put her down and she stood straight up and then laid right back down. Her siblings are very sweet with each other so she's in a blocked off area where my older two can't bother her. I'm hoping to see something better tomorrow.
She's my favorite girl because she's not as dramatic as her sisters. Lol
I hate seeing her not feel good 😭
