These two sweethearts are 3 1/2 month old BCM/Lavender Orpington crosses. I’m hoping I have two pullets, but I’m not experienced enough to know for sure. Thoughts??

(Number 1 had a run in with a fence around Christmas and scraped it’s head quite severely. Hence, the missing feathers. But, we’ve been carefully tending it, and the little cutie is healing better than expected. ☺)

Fun cross. Orps can be a bit slower to mature in my experience. And I think you might be having two cockerels there.

However, I am having a difficult time making out their saddles and neither is sporting any copper there yet (I used to breed FBCM), boys usually sport their color early in that breed... but this cross?? Check out this pic from Google and see how it compares to what you are seeing in person...

Saddle feathers don't lie once they come in on *most* breeds, including the cross in question.

3.5 month is 14 weeks... Usually feathered legs is dominant surprised to see both with clean legs in stated cross.

I’m super curious to watch these two grow out.
We originally had three, but we ended up loosing the third one a few weeks ago. It had feathered legs, and similar coloring to these two.

These two are just fun little mysteries. I’ll have to repost pictures in a few weeks. Thanks again!!
