I got my chicks on April 2nd from
Tractor Supply Co. I didn't think to ask how old they were when I got them so I guessed 1 week old. Making them 3weeks old now. I have a red heat lamp and a ceramic heater for the evenings.
Keeping my lean to around 65f and the brooder at 85f while the outside temps have been 37-43f over the last 2 nights.
(Yes I went out at 330am to check on them)
I have a (500watt??) halogen work light on a timer to kick on at 6am and off at 9pm.
And the heater kicks off at 6am and on at 9pm.
Does this sound like a first time parent or what!? :'))
Any experienced chick caregiver have any advice on what I am doing?
Am I doing ok or should I change something?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
Ron

If I posted a picture of some of the chicks, could someone give me an accurate idea of age?

Here are mine out on March 20th. (Day I got them at 3 weeks). Had temps in the twenties . Had two heat lamps straddled and zip tied over a saw horse. Total of 51 didn’t lose any. To date. Turned lamp offs 2 weeks or so ago. Hope this helps ya.
