I have got a 6 week old Sultan that is determined to live. As you can see by the picture his beak is getting worse, we didn't notice it at first. He was always the first at the feeder and wasn't afraid to be picked up. I know now he is starving and feel very bad about that. He is in a cage with one other small chick and I have started to feed him with an eye dropper, watered down chick starter and a little meat bird. I guess my question is will he ( I'm not sure if it's a hen or rooster) make it?? ANY advice welcome! Thanks so much. I really have grown fond of him.

Just found out I can't post picutres till I'm no longer "New Egg" So, Imagine if the top part of his beak is to the left and the bottom is to the right, You can see his little tongue.

My peepers is the same and almost a yr old. Deep feed dish and water dish are needed for him. I use an old butter tub for feed and a milk jug cut in the side for water. Peepers is my avatar. He is smaller than his sisters and brothers and lighter than a silkie, but he loves life!

I do have to trim his top beak every few weeks for him to be able to eat. I don't know if you will have to do this too or not, Peepers is the only one I have had with a twisted beak. Peepers bottom beak is to the left his top beak is the way it should be, so I don't know. But deff. deep feed and water dishes for it. Good luck

Definitely fill up a deep dish for him/her and don't give him anything to eat that needs grit unless you sprinkle grit on top of the food. My crossbeak is doing great at 10 months old, even laying well. I clip little tiny bits off the beaks with a human toenail trimmer but not as far down as the quick.

Poor little thing. Mine little one is about that or a little worse as her top beak hooks more even when trimmed. Keep it trimmed back as much as you can and keep feed in deep dishes that she/he can reach in easily.

I got 2 little cups ( from instant tea) and used wire ties to tie them to the side of the cage and filled them with a warm mash. He/she is going crazy eating! the only thing is he shakes his head and little bits are flying everywhere. Thanks so much to all the advice. BYC is a great forum!

Peepers does the head shaking and if he even thinks something has food, he runs over and acts like he aint ate in a week even though he has feed all day long. If it truns out to be male you may have to trim the front of his head feathers or bread as they might gets matted up with food and water.
