We just started using the little red watering cups that the chickens need to activate by pushing a little lever in the bottom. The problem is, they aren’t pushing the lever and so no water is coming out. I keep going out and doing it for them. Should I put a different water source out for them or will they figure it out on their own? How long hold I give them?

Try tapping it for them and they should figure it out, or putting a treat near it so they peck it. It took mine only minutes to figure out their nipple waterers.

I manually filled the cups half full, and whenever they drank out of it, they'd hit the yellow lever and release more water. Just keep trying, they will get the hang of it!

My chickens are just not getting the hang of these cups. They only drink if I fill the cups and they only drink from the sides, never touching the little float. I’m at a loss as to what to do. I might have to get a different water source.

Ours did the same. We bought the bucket and drilled holes for the nipples and hung it. Took a few of the girls and held them and tapped their mouth to it. They to right to it in a day

We got a Lowe's bucket and the nipples at tractor supply. A lot cheaper to make it yourself then buy one that was done

It’s been over a week and mine still won’t use them.
