Kiki, switch those... Safeguard is 5 consecutive days, Valbazen is 3 consecutive days...

I am *not sure* Safeguard at 5 days will clear out tapes, can't remember... Valbazen at 3 days WILL clear out tapes, I did that one...

Just for editifcation purposes, maggots only eat dead flesh. We use sterile maggots in the hospital for debridment purposes. So unless your hen has a wound with dead flesh in the area you should be okay. In other words maggots wont just start eating your birds.

I’ve heard this several times before but isn’t fly strike in sheep the maggots eating live flesh?

Actually maggots will invade the vent or a wound and eat into the body of the chicken.

Also, this is an old thread, and newer updated info on tapeworms, is that a wormer with praziquantel is best for those. Equimax or Zimectein Gold horse pastes or Droncit tablets contain praziquantel.
