LITTLE WHITE WORMS IN CHICKEN POOP AND COOP!!!!!

My dad threw away the bedding and so now there are no worms left in the coop! There were tiny little clumps of dirt that looked like an anthill and I had made sure to clean that spot well where the dirt was. So whatever those worms were are now in the trash. I can maybe dig some of them up, but I might not get to them in time. The larvae were not as thick as ant larvae or maggots. Unless these maggots were EXTREMELY thin. I am sincerely afraid that they are tapeworms. Anyone know how to get rid of tapeworms? I have seen many different cures and want a solid answer. I have not wormed my chickens in 2 years for one chicken and 1 year for the other two. I never knew you had to worm them!! Someone please tell me how to worm the chickens and what to use. They have never been wormed in their LIVES. Thanks!!

Several methods depending on your preference. Do it twice 10 days apart. This gets worms and then any hatching larvae. Most supplies can be found at your feed store, Atwoods or Tractor Supply.
1). Wazine in their water. Follow the directions on the bottle.
2) Valbazon tube...a 1/2 inch line on a piece of bread
3). Ivermectin 1/2 cc under a wing for an adult bird

Permethrin barn spray is my go too remedy for flies and it keeps down maggots and ants.

Any infestation of worms, maggots, ants can kill a bird if the infestation overwhelms the bird. Maggots on the bird would indicate some kind of open injury or abscess where flies laid eggs.

Can maggots go inside the bird? I have heard of flystrike and already know how to cure that. Are there any other ways they can get inside the bird? How do other people cure flystrike? Will the maggots that were on the floor of the coop crawl onto my chickens and eat them and cause wounds?? Thanks!

Wazine ONLY gets rid of ROUNDWORMS.
NOT Tapes.

For Tapeworms you can use:
Safeguard which is Fendendazole OR Valbazen which is Albendazole.
Either one of the above's dosing is:
.23ml of medicine PER POUND of chicken. You should weigh each chicken and dose each one straight to the beak.
Safeguard 3 days in a row.
Valbazen 3 days in a row.

Just for editifcation purposes, maggots only eat dead flesh. We use sterile maggots in the hospital for debridment purposes. So unless your hen has a wound with dead flesh in the area you should be okay. In other words maggots wont just start eating your birds.

If it happens again, post some pictures or get some droppings tested by a vet. We can usually help identify tapes or roundworms, and sometimes maggots if we can see them.
