Yeah, I can drain it I think, I'm looking into it. I have 14 chickens- 7 hens, 3 pullets, 3 roosters, and 1 cockerel. No I did not want that many roosters the store had them in with the pullets-only sections... It's crazy out there now. 2 roosters and 1 hen are Barred Rocks, 5 hens are Rhode Island Reds (one of those the sick one) 3 pullets and 1 cockerel are Buff orpingtons, and I have a Black Australorp hen and a rooster that appears to be a RIR-Orp cross

I think you have to drain the abdomen every time she swells.

Yeah, and I think I need a syringe for it. I don't have one

I've been trying to have that many at once for a while, yet stuff kept coming up and I would never have more than 11. But I was thinking 1 or 2 roosters at most... NOT 4! I like my breeds too, except for the australorp.

Lucky. I have four chickens; one Mutt (Lady Marigold), one Brahma (Lovey), one Vorwerk (Lady Egglantine) and one Bielefelder (Pinkie). I want more, but I know I can't have more until the others have died (which I hope isn't any time soon). :/
I bet! It took years for me to get just two! Four roos is a lot. We aren't allowed roos, so I always end up getting grown birds just to be sure that we don't get a roo.
Why don't you like the Australorp? Are they mean?
I love my breeds. Every breed I've kept, even the rare ones I have now, has been absolutely wonderful. They are so sweet and loving.

The Bielefelder and Vorwerk are rare, the Brahma and the Mutt are common.
That's good! Mine don't lay all that much, especially not my old hen Lovey. I don't mind, because I don't keep them for eggs. I rarely eat the eggs.

Aw, poor chooky. My Pinkie is skittish and my other hens are so very naughty, they don't lay much either. If you're raising them for eggs, I can see why they aren't the most favourable.
