Yeah, I can drain it I think, I'm looking into it. I have 14 chickens- 7 hens, 3 pullets, 3 roosters, and 1 cockerel. No I did not want that many roosters the store had them in with the pullets-only sections...It's crazy out there now. 2 roosters and 1 hen are Barred Rocks, 5 hens are Rhode Island Reds (one of those the sick one) 3 pullets and 1 cockerel are Buff orpingtons, and I have a Black Australorp hen and a rooster that appears to be a RIR-Orp cross
I think you have to drain the abdomen every time she swells.

If you're raising them for eggs, I can see why they aren't the most favourable.
