Thanks! But I ordered some silkie eggs from somewhere this summer and I'm not sure If I can have any more silkiesErin you can have some of the silkie chicks that hatches out of ours if any hatches
97-99 degrees isn't a steady enough temp, you need it to stay at 99 degrees. Other people may say different, but IMO your humidity is way to high. I keep mind at 35-40% for incubation and 60% for the hatch. Since your temp would have been a bit low if it was dropping to 97 regularily, your eggs will probably hatch late, if any hatch at all. Also, I don't bump the humidity up until the first egg has pipped, not when I put them into lockdown, especially if the temp has been low and they might be hatching late. If you bumped it up to 70% on day 18, that means that they are in a 70% humidity environment for 3-4 days+. The two chicks could be drowning inside the shell with the extra humidity at the end, plus the high humidity all through the incubation period.
Hope this helps!
Okay thanks I'll check that out. I have a little giant still air right now.If you are getting a new incubator, I would recommend a Brinsea. The R-COMs are very expensive, and 3 eggs is really not a lot. I hatch and raise hundreds of chicks every year, so incubating 3 eggs for me is a huge waste of time. Plus, out of three eggs, you have a much higher chance of getting a single chick which isn't good. My first incubator was a Brinsea Mini Advance, it holds 7 eggs and works perfectly. I got very good hatch rates with it.

No, they just are selfish sometimes and are fragile, feedstore turkeys get blackhead.Oh I heard they are good protectors, like roosters. What do the do then?
You and me both alike, except I don't have a hygrometer and my humidity was WAY to low. I have a still air, just like yours and with a turner. If you have a still air, I hear you have to run them at 101 degrees. And you run the fan ones at 99.5 degrees.I have failed again. Today is hatch day and absolutely nothing has happened. I don't understand. I kept the temp around 97-99 degrees F and the humidity around 50-60% and bumped it up to %70 on lock down. What could've gone wrong? 2 of the eggs are developing. What am I doing wrong? This will be another disappointing hatch day I guess![]()

Okay. Thanks so much! I guess we'll wait a few days. What about helping the chicks?

LG's are generally not very good incubators, especially still-airs. I would get either a Brinsea or a good Hovabator.
