Thanks everyone for watching!! Of our 17 eggs we have 5 hatches so far (2 Marans, 1 Light Brahma, 1 White Leghorn and 1 Ameraucana). There are others that have pipped. The video will stay live and I'll move the view around when theres an egg trying to hatch.

Guess who didn't get much sleep last night? Our incubator is in our living room so I used the UStream app for my phone and played it live (with sound) in my bedroom on my nightstand so I could hear the peeping every time one was hatching (and wake up and stumble downstairs to watch it).

Once hatching is over and we can move babies to the brooder tomorrow, I'll move the camera to that and keep the peep show going

We've got 7 happy healthy babies bouncing around in there right now... so far all of our attempted hatches have been successful with no intervention needed. There is one that I know is pipped right now, which leaves 9 more eggs that I dont know about.

We have 17 eggs in the incubator and took out the obvious blanks (we started with 21). However several of our eggs were too dark for us to candle properly so we don't know how many more eggs to expect to hatch. A couple we couldnt candle have hatched already (and the one pipped right now was another that was too dark to candle well) so we're staying hopeful for the long haul.

To recap, this is a Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance. The temps have stayed constant since day one and we have had no problems keeping humidity where we want it at all. We bumped it up for lockdown on Thursday and it has stayed hovering around 68-70% with the vent anywhere between 3/4 to all the way open.

The only complaint I have with this incubator is that because of the way it is made, it is hard to see the chicks/eggs inside and nearly impossible to take photos!! We're doing the best we can with the video and aiming it at an egg when we suspect it to hatch soon.

I just watched that last one hatch. Very neat. I don't know why I haven't thought of a web cam. I think I'll do that with the hatch I have going right now. Awesome!
