Live mealworm in chicken poop?

We found a mealworm - alive - in some chicken poop. Our chicks (who are 6 weeks old) tend to gobble them up so it seems that they might be swallowed whole. Did it actually make it through alive, or do you think it was a stray mealworm on the floor that went to eat the poop? (We have a couple stray mealworms here and there in the room.)
