Live trap it is.

Do you KNOW it was the cat who killed the bird(s) or was it just reaping the benefits of another preditors handy work? I mean did you actually see it attack and kill? Domesticated cats do not typically attack birds that are bigger than they are.

I had a stray around my place who would take down full grown chickens, they can and they will if they want to.

I said Typically

No it's fully roofed lol. It's not really residential. No sidewalks, one store, and lots of desert. Small place, North Edwards is. It's good here cuz alot of other towns are close by and such. My birds have access to water, food, nest boxes, all through a door I closed last night. And no cat

But I do wanna make sure it keeps away, from my property. If I have to fire a warning shot every night so be it, to scare away any cat, or anything else.

I have seen the cat in the coop several times. I have never seen an owl in there or a hawk.

It's not a fancy coop. In fact I'm urging my mother to help me make one out of wood, with a frame and everything. But my mom wants to move the chickens into the backyard and the dogs into the front. I don't like that idea.. If something went wrong the dogs would cause chaos, not Bruno but the dachshunds most definately. I'm also trying to get rid of some pullets/roos, we just have too many. I have no clue why my mom keeps getting standard pullets even though I'm asking for banties

Anyways here pictures. The "coop" they live in is made from a large cage we got a year ago. It has been lined with chicken wire and several carpet stuff my mom got from these people moving. So 3 walls of cage/wire and 1 wall of wooden fence. There are nest boxes in there aswell.

Two doors. The one that closes when they sleep and the one that is part of the fence.

And the cat gets in by the little cagey door.

No way no kid comes on my yard! If the kid has a problem then the kid comes to me first.

Go & buy yourself a live trap. Use wet cat food or a can of tuna as bait. Catch it and take it to the animal shelter. Tell them you've checked with all of your neighbors, no one claims it and it's killing your chickens.

Live trap it is. Now what stores sell these things? Umm I have Hemy-Hay and VanDam Farms for feed stores/hardwares. I could also have Ace Hardware.

VERY good idea and humane too

The owners obviously don't care about the cat...let someone adopt it who will.

Most feed stores will have it...or maybe the Ace?
