My favorite chicken Daisy has been pooping live worms like this. They live for 10+ minutes and craw off the poop… Super super disgusting.
Can anyone identify the worms and then tell me the best thing to get rid of them? Thank you! Attached is photo of worms, and also a photo of the sweet beautiful chicken who birthed them, since you have to look at her poo might as well enjoy her cute face. 🤮 😂

And yes this is my first post… about poop… I meant to do a proper introduction post but this is more urgent lol.

@MoonFeathers Yes, those are tapeworm segments. You only need to dose Daisy and no other birds unless they excrete tapeworm segments as well.
Purchase Equimax equine paste at a feed store. Dosage is given orally, 0.03ml per pound or 0.15ml for a 5 pound hen.
Insects are the vector for tapeworms. However, not all insects are tapeworm infected.

Thank you, just picked some up from the feed store! Hopefully Daisy likes apple flavor 🍎
I’ll keep an eye on the others poop but from my observations today the rest of them are clear! Are her eggs safe to eat after the worming or should I toss them for a while? And just one dose or two?

I dont recall Equimax equine paste in apple flavor. Are you sure you bought the correct wormer? Redose 10 days after the initial worming and there's a 14 day egg withdrawal period after the last dosing.

Yes it’s that exact one just with a little apple flavor logo in the corner. It’s actually the only option they had in stock for that brand I got it at runnings.
Just dosed her this morning (weighed her precisely and everything) and a whole ton of big long tapeworms came out a couple hours later, I’m assuming that means it’s working? 🤮 she also seems more energetic and “excited about life” since I dosed her.
