I'd go with the wood chips. No matter what you put down, it's gonna get chicken poo filtering down through it. The wood chips will eventually decompose, and result in lovely compost. The stone chips will end up having a nice slurry of chicken poo binding the chips together.

Aart, I have a mulch fork like that and absolutely LOVE it. I toss it in the truck when we go to the dump, and often stop at the composting area and bring back a load of chips.

I tried a garden fork, 4 fat teeth, didn't work well at all.
They have them at TSC. ~$25

Mines 6 skinny teeth. Spreads well but still drops some. Better than a rake for spreading though.

Yay my chips came! These are fresh and highly fragrant. Some got into the run. Hope it won't make them sick.

They are busily scratching them into the hay.

Tree trimming companies are a pig farmers best friend..
We get loads and loads. It eventually breaks down into fresh soil. Keeps are critters from digging all the way to China!

Haha!! That actually belonged to a buddy, I borrowed it, then bought one but liked his better....longer handle which he didn't care for, so we traded
