Location, Location, Location...

My back yard is 27' deep and 60' wide. My house is on the north side of it and there are 5-6' side yards on either side of my house. I can more or less put the coop anywhere in the yard. I was thinking about putting it along the wall of the house (so that the coop is in the east with the run heading west) where there aren't any windows and it will help to shelter from the snow and wind. We don't have any trees yet; they are coming later but won't really provide much shelter as they are very young and short. I was planning on getting a tarp or some shade cloth to give the chickens a break from the sun come summer. Does this plan sound smartish and do you have any ideas for a better location? I'm not to keen on putting the chicks in the side yards as they become wind channels in fall and winter.
