Northern New Hampshire? Congratulations, you've just joined the ranks of "Frozen Chicken Tenders!" I'm in Maryland. I love the snow, but definitely prefer the "flip-flop weather" part of the year!Northern New Hampshire. First winter with 4 girls, no rooster.
As long as they stay dry and there are no drafts coming directly at or up from below their roosts, they should be just fine.I can appreciate that. I do enjoy living in the woods in a log cabin with very few neighbors. Little concerned about the cold weather on the girls
show usWhile I give ventilation to the coop during the day, we have made sure they are tight overnight with no drafts. Also, we are covering their 8 ‘ run with a tarp (one side for now) with a tarp during the day. Of course They have a large pen to roam in during the daytime.
They need ventilation especially at night. That's when they spend the most time inside, so moisture and ammonia can build. Make sure they have ventilation above their heads at the highest roost. Roof vents work well, but a simple hole in the wall, covered by hardware cloth works just as well. If you post a picture of your set-up, we can give more specific advice. It would really help. While I give ventilation to the coop during the day, we have made sure they are tight overnight with no drafts.
