Lock Down - Here goes nothing

I candled them, about half were doing great, veins, then dark solid mass at the 2nd candleing(when they went into lockdown) the other half never developed anything. now I just have to figure out how to keep this 1 alive since they don't do good alone

Maybe try giving him a stuffed animal friend? I've never tried it myself but others seem to have had success giving lonely chicks something soft to press up against.

I have some pipping in both the buttons and japs.. see how it goes. I usually leave mine in a few days after, just to accommodate for any disturbance etc

My husband just called me over to the incubator, I looked and there was another one in there, I couldn't believe it. I have another egg that is rocking back and forth, and 2 that has chips in it where it looks like they are pipping. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I looked at my calendar, I just noticed I was a couple of days early on my counting. I put the eggs in on the morning of the 5th, 28 days from that is TODAY, not Monday. OMG this makes happy now. I didn't loose all my eggs. lol good thing I didn't throw them out. now I feel so much better. now I will wait for another few days and what doesn't hatch I say by Friday I will check and see. I feel so stupid for not counting it right.

I will try that, I came to the realization that I counted the wrong days. lol I counted like 25 or 26 instead of 28. I have 2 hatch so far, but I am going to try what you said about the stuff animal. that is a great idea. Thank you

Oh lol great, good thing you waited a bit! I've got three chicks now, not expecting more since I don't see much activity with the rest of the eggs but it would be a nice surprise if a few more hatched.

I am going to wait another day or two, I had one egg rocking, and another egg pipping but nothing has happened yet. I added a little bit more water(was almost dry) when I tood the other 2 babies out so maybe that will help(since I messed up on the dates). I have added pictures of the babies, sorry for the quality

So far I have 28 JapCos and 5 KingCos.. still a few eggs cooking, but in 24hrs I will call it a day. The Japs I bred myself, and 6 haven't hatched. The KingCos I bought in, and have a 50% rate up to now.
I'll be moving them all into a 3ft heated viv, buttons in a plastic fanarium, and a few runts in another one. All inside the vivarium.
I had no idea those wee buttons were so bloody fast! Like lightening!
