Lock down question, need info asap please!

So I put the duck eggs in on Friday 3/25 at 11pm. So would today at 11 pm or should they be locked down or tomorrow at 11 pm??Got so excited with the twin egg, don't want to lock it down to soon or to late.

The exact timing is not of huge importance. Eggs don't need to be turned the last 3rd of incubation (9 days for duck eggs). So that is the earliest date. 2 days would be pushing it for enough time for them to get positioned correctly, though even that has some wiggle room. I have had eggs hatch in the turner of a cabinet incubator, and the chicks tumble over a foot to the bottom, with great results (though I'm not recommending that here). If in doubt, start lockdown a bit earlier to be on the safer side.

4/25 hasn't gotten here yet so I'm thinking you set 3/25

Tuesday the 19th would be day 25 so that would be the normal lockdown day, however if you set at 11 pm, technicall you wouldn't be on day 25 until 11 pm. You could lockdown before bed or the following day. Unless you have early action going on in the eggs, it doesn't matter.

Yes. They don't NEED to be turned the last week. I stop turning my chicken eggs at the end of day 13 so they are at rest days 14-hatch with the exception of candling.

A broody bird turns the eggs every day form day 1 until they are hatched, they can't count and thus day 1, day 21, day 28 and beyond is all the same to them, that is why you can switch out eggs from a broody bird prior to hatch into a hatcher and get the broody bird to incubate an entirely new clutch of eggs time and time again... You can if you choose to stop turning them prior to hatch or you can continue turning them...

The reason it's customary to stop turning them near the end is because auto turning device can cause harm to the hatching chicks so you don't want them running during hatch, hand turning posses little to no risk unless you do it violently... Regardless of the claims to the contrary the chick doesn't need days to position itself for hatch, if the did none would ever hatch under a bird as they never stop moving the eggs they repossession and start pipping in near real time, and none would hatch after the first chick goes around bulldozing the remaining eggs...

This 'lock down' phenomenon has grown into a beast well beyond it's intended purpose...

Lock down is simply a mental minder to turn off and/or remove automatic egg turners and to possibly increase humidity for an easier hatch...
