Lock Down!!!!

Good to hear the chick has hatched ok. If you have another piping at the wrong end of the egg this would point me towards something like the eggs have been incubated the wrong way up. Did you have them in a turner with the fat end up during incubation? If they were incubated with the pointy end up they could have formed in the wrong position. Also how the eggs were stored prior to incubation can affect how they form too.

Good luck with the rest of them, keep us posted.

I went to bed at midnight and I had two babies. Up at 7:00 I now have 6 little babies. As far as my eggs hatching they all seem to be hatching from the small end. I have a Roll-X incubator and the eggs lay on their side not on the end in the turner. I know that a hens eggs lay on their side while incubating and that's the way mine are. If anyone can help me correct the pip problem please drop me a line. I love hearing the sound of peeps in the morning!

The eggs have been hatching about 1 every hour all day. I now have 14 or 15. Looks like some aren't going to make it they pipped this morning and nothing since. Today is only day 20 so I'll give them time. I'm at about 50% hatch rate as of now maybe there will be more. Still pretty good for first timer.

Got about 20 hatched and was wondering when to open the incubator? They started hatching yesterday and I'm sure the oldest ones are thirsty and hungry. There are about 10 eggs left to hatch how long do I wait? If they don't hatch how will I know if they died or the eggs has rotted?
I cant believe I've had as good of a hatch so far since they all are hatching from the small end of the egg.
Can any one who has a Roll-X incubator tell me why this is happening. The turner has turned them ever hour will they have been in the incubator. If no one replies to this by lunch time tomorrow, I going to take the babies and shells out and leave the others in there for at least 24 hours

Hopefully someone more experiences will answer, but until then, here is what I do. Chicks can stay in the incubator for up to 72 hours but I really don't like anywhere near that long. Are you seeing any pips on the unhatched eggs? If so, I would hold off opening the incubator to give them time to hatch without shrink wrapping.
If no pips and you don't see any rocking and rolling, I would be tempted to get the live ones out, swoop up the shells, and close the incubator and wait to see if more hatch. Is your humidity holding well?
