Lock your ducks up @ night! - Very Discouraged... (slightly graphic)

I hate to discourage any attempt to protect ducks but what you pictured IMO would not keep a coon out. more likely a coon would reach through those big squares pull it close and kill and eat what it wants through the opening. coons are very strong.

That's why I'm looking for something different.

What actually happened though was that the coon actually got in their enclosure. We've had ducks years ago and lost a few the same way as well with a different type of enclosure. The next one is going to have to be the right one because I'm done losing ducks. Or are you talking about the idea of buying chicken wire?

Well if I keep it and use it, it will be setting inside a chain-link fenced dog yard. My ducks run is inside the dogs yard.
I have it covered now with chicken wire, 36" wide, went up and over the top and down the other side, then a second one at the back which left 2 of the big 4x4 mesh uncovered so a third one went up and over and it's all over-lapped now.
I said I wasn't going to work on it today cuz Im so sore from the last 2 days of it, but I was out there anyways.
I've built a loft and ladder going up toward the peak of it. It's getting cuter and cuter all the time.
Im thinking of maybe giving it to my brother who lives just outside the city limits of Freeland. His kids would love raising their own chickens and eggs. Other siblings are all in towns and my son is in Hemlock, don't know their poultry laws for city limits over there.

Oh, I meant I was planning on using something different than what I currently have! lol I missed the part where the quote I was replying to was about your post. Sorry about that! I really like your idea. For our yard, since we don't have anything to put it inside, we'd have to build it out of chicken wire or something like that. But it looks like ap rett ysimple, budget-friendly idea that could work as long as I use small enough wire for aroudn here.
