Lockdown and small aircells

Kind of depends on the time of day you set.

Mornings would be concidered day one, but if you set in the evening you would count the next day.

Thought I'd add this link for you.

Comes in handy sometimes

Thank you for the link. That chart counts the first day as day 1. We set the eggs on Jan. 17, at 6:00 pm. So do we count Jan 17 as day 1, and begin lockdown, 18 days later on Feb. 3, at 6:00 pm? Thanks!

I would count it as day 1 but some don't count that day and start from the next. It's a few hours and really won't make much of a difference at all.

I love that link. Makes things so easy.

Except the NYD and CNY hatches I usually set very early in the morning and start that day as day 1, if I set late the night before I wait and count the next day as day 1. Does that make since? I hope I'm not confusing you. Looks righ in print to me. LOL

And yes you'll be locking down on my BDay! Feb 3.

If you have any problems Chookschick has the best cheat sheet in the world. The link is in her post on this thread. She's teaching me a new way of locking down since I'm having a problem with hatches from so many damaged shipped eggs.

good luck on your hatch. So what are you hatching?

Oh auction time! Gotta run for a few hours!!!

Great. Hope you get some chicks. After this hatch I have one more in 2 days and then I'll have room to add some TJ eggs also.

I'm putting 48 Marans eggs in one of them tonight and there's just a few in lockdown and going in, so all that space I decided to try some myself.

I can always sell the TJ chicks for feed money.

Good luck! Hope you all have fun.

ChooksChick I just wanted to thank you.

I realized a couple of things I have been doing or not doing since my husband died. Don't completely remember things these days.

Thanks to you I got 4 new chickies!

Started with 22 eggs, Locked down 8 (couldn't see the BCMs development) Hatched 4. I had a couple of quiters and a clear and a scramble.

So of those that developed to term I got 100%

That's my brag and sticking to it.

I like your cheat sheet and think I'll be doing it this way a lot more.

Now to get that Sportsman back up and running!

Thank you so much!

I also used cartons and never liked them.

I do now though!!

Cavendish...unless you're hatching water fowl, your humidity levels are way too high. Below 50% the first 18 days & 60-65% the last 3 are the norm. With humidity that high all through the hatch, you may have problems with drowned chicks. If this has worked for you before in your area, then by all means continue what you feel best.

I'm so delighted you got chicks, my love!!!

That's fabulous news! I can't take any credit- really I just observe what works and share it for others to try, but it seems to do the trick well.

Hooooraaaay for chickies!!!

Hi,
I use the same thermometers in my aquariums. When you buy them look at all thermometers on the shelf, buy the ones that read the same. Some will read low others high. When I'm setting up a spawning tank I use a digital meat probe to double check my thermometers before introducing the fish.
