Thank you Amy! It's reassuring, except it makes me worried if the thermometer is out too. I wish I'd known about calibrating BEFORE I started incubating!

Me too. My very first hatch I lost all but one because I trusted a brand new thermometer and it ended up being six degrees off. Lesson learned early on and corrected and have been having very successful hatches since. You wouldn't think that a brand new thermometer would be that off, but it was. Definitely a learning experience.Thank you Amy! It's reassuring, except it makes me worried if the thermometer is out too. I wish I'd known about calibrating BEFORE I started incubating!
How is it going today?Thank you Amy! It's reassuring, except it makes me worried if the thermometer is out too. I wish I'd known about calibrating BEFORE I started incubating!
Has she ever had a successful hatch? Why would she think the humidity is supposed to be lowered?Well, the same, but thanks for asking. I tried to talk to the owner of the incubator and couldn't get her to understand the problem - I guess she was under the impression that the humidity is supposed to go down for lockdown. So that wasn't much help.
I keep thinking I should build a little nest with a support around it for me to lay on and hatch them myself! How different could my ambient temperature and humidity be from a mamma hen's? At least I'd have a great excuse to not get any other work done.![]()
Tomorrow's day 21...maybe there'll be peeping soon and I can switch to worrying about a batch of roosters.
And spent the money on a Brinsea?Has she ever had a successful hatch? Why would she think the humidity is supposed to be lowered?
So...Day 21...I should be at least hearing peeping by now, right? Wow. How amazingly disappointing.
