Danielson and Karate Kid are taking their time but zipping

Danielson looks like another black chick and Karate is looking like a yellow chick

No other pips on the remaining 6....

CONGRATS everyone!

I had 6 Cuckoo Maran chicks hatch!

Not a great hatch rate, but certainly acceptable for shipped eggs.

Oddly enough, I had 2 that pipped at the short end of the egg. One busted out while I was at work, but his shell was zipped on the side of the egg. I will have to take a picture, but to describe it: the chick unzipped around the "O" I had written on it for turning.

The other was upside-down in the egg, had been fully unzipped for 12-18 hours, but could not push out. I ended up helping it out (I just pulled the egg apart). He was weak at first, and would not stop crying. I even held him throughout the NCIS premire (DH's favorite show) and he cried non-stop. DH was mad.

I will have to open the two duds and see if they were upside-down as well.

Danielson was out and wobbling around when I came home but the Karate kid was in a bit of trouble. The membrane was dried over his face, wing and part of his foot so he was a bit stuck though still attempting to get out of the shell and he had blood everywhere

. I helped, yeah I know bad but.... I moistened the membrane a bit and slowly peeled it back leaving him still in his shell and put him right back in. The other two are wobbling all over the place, it's hilarious. Have to wait on the camera to charge up before I can get any more pics though

Well.... I went ahead and took them out of the bator, the oldest one was attempting to climb the wire guarding them from the bulb... the little stinker. The third one finally pulled himself together and got his butt out of the shell... mostly, there was still some membrane dried onto his other foot so I had to peel that off.

While I was peeling off the junk from Karate's feet I heard scratching, thought I was just hearing things. Decided to do and egg-topsy on the last mutt egg because we didn't hear anything from it, found out it had a really nasty crossbeak and wouldn't have made it even if it had survived pipping. Checked everything one more time thinking the EE's were going to be a waste of time but figured I'd give them another day..... and #7 was pipping!!! So I'll have at least one more.....
