Lockdown in 2 days

@ Mike...Hows the quality of your feed for the flock layers?  Just trying to think of things that may cause mortality in chicks...

I give my hens premium pellets. I thjnk 16 percent protein and they free range as well for half the day. There feed is non gmo it's called halfmoon. It's milled here in washington. I'm not sure if many people know about it. And my chicks are getting an organic crumble that is from oregon, can't remember the name.

no clue....i would expect defication. are they choking on something?

I don't think so. I ask because I've lost pullets before and had the same saliva type stuff in the mouth when I would open it when they would pass
hmmm....curious. In the human death cycle we do what is called a "Death gurgle" It's literally foaming at the mouth or slight drool. I had run into this a couple times with people who were in cardiac arrest from congestive heart failure. I resuscitated them both. Maybe chicks do a gurgle too

Hey Mike, just a thought, but did any of them have pasty butt? If that doesn't get cleaned up real good, it can kill them/

@ Mike I would try to gradually lower your heat a bit.  What is your brooder temp at now?

Also are you feeding a medicated feed?

I have lowered it. If they get too hot they get away from light right? The 2 that j have now seem fine and rest underneath and around the light. No its not medicated. I choose not to go that way and try let them go naturally and not have to rely on medicine.
