I have incubated five sets of eggs since i've had this incubator, and not a one egg has hatched. I feel so stupid. I feel like i'm doing everything right, and even if I weren't, wouldn't one have hatched by now? It's at a steady 100 degrees, correct humidity, and I have an auto turner. Anyways. This is my fifth set of eggs I have in the bator, and it's day 13 for me. I candled the eggs this morning, hoping to have some luck. I DID! I saw veins, and the little body of the chicks, and even saw one moving around in there. My question is, when it comes the time for lockdown, what do I need to do EXACTLY? I have been taking the turner out, setting the eggs on the bottom and filling little bowls up with warm water and putting them in each corner. Also, I have found that the temp is actually warmer higher up in the turner, where as it is lower on the wire down low. So, when I take the turner out and set the eggs on the wire on day 18, do I need to raise the temp since it is lower down there?

I'll Let someone with more expertise answer about lockdown but I'm curious about the eggs that didn't work.
Did you see any development at all? Did you candle along the way and stop when it was clear they weren't developing? It sounds like an egg problem more than an incubator problem to me if you haven't even seen veins in them yet. Where did you get them. Are you sure they were fertile?

Awesome I wish you the best of luck. I'm on my second set of eggs. Haven't even put then in the bator yet. Cause I want to get that part right. It's doing my head in considering someone just hatched out a duck in a bowl with a glass lid. I feel so stupid as well. Hope you get your answers. I don't feel qualified to answer. But I'd say your doing something right if they're moving. More than I got.

Some I got from the breeder I get most of my show birds from. The others are from my hens. I am almost positive they are fertile. I candle them and see veins, and then leave them alone from then on, and no hatch.

Haha I followed that too. Little basil is famous!

Strange. Probably need more candling to work out what went wrong. Looking for things like blood rings, and how far they got before they stopped. Any way bacteria could've gotten in? Washed your hands when you candle etc?

Yes he sure is. But fancy that. I think the person the commented there is something wrong with the eggs is probably the main reason. Cause let's face it. We both are trying are hardest and the simplistic measures seem to work as long a the eggs are good!

Well that's it they are in. 37.5 and 40% ish humidity. 33 eggs one has tape over a hairline crack. So will see in 7 days. As today is Day 0. Hope you make it through to hatch day. We can keep each other going. Lol determination. !!!

fingers are crossed! Started out with 39, now down to 13. They all look pretty swell though in there. I bet 10 will hatch

Oh god. I'd be happy with two, but happier with a good percentage at least we would know things were going good. I'm not planning on taking eggs out till lock down. I'm not planning on even checking ALL the eggs at each stage. I'm planning on just turning three times a day. And cancelling at day 7 then at 14 and again at 18. 18 will be the day I take all the eggs out. Lol. Cause they had either been cooked or gone bad. Lol. Fingers crossed for sure. Are you candelling at day 18? I think it's a good day to get rid as if there is nothing in there you'd know by then. !
