LOCKDOWN QUESTIONS

I’m so sorry about the one that covered it’s hole. That can happen to ducklings that externally pip too😢 Try not to feel too bad.

Can you post pictures of the eggs that you opened? Did you moisten their membranes? Can you see the bill at all on the malpositioned one?
they're both cheeping away but still doing chewing motions and have visible veins I put some coconut oil on the membrane it looked good before though no discolouring and paper like I'll get pics now and yes I've open him further and I think it's its neck I'm looking at and can't see his beak at all but with the positioning of the other I think if he's got himself into the right direction his beak will be just up from the air cell

Sounds like you’re doing good. Just watch those veins and wait🤞

Does the malpositioned one also have a lot of veins?
Did the zipping duckling hatch?

If you can’t find the malpositioned one’s beak I’m not sure what else you can do. Hopefully someone experienced with that can give you some ideas

No it had made about 3 more knocks along from the pip so I opened both up to over their beaks to not risk another blocking its self. The one that hadn't piped itself was further over than the safety hole so can see his veins alot more when I oiled the membrane, the malpositioned one still has veins but not much where its opened but can see down the side of the air cell and no beak I've attached what you can see of the malpositioned one as well and made sure to oil as much of the membran that the qtip could reach I hope I'm doing OK for them they're back in incubator cheeping away and chomping so leaving them alone now and hope the malpositioned one manages to find a way 😬

HELP Update: we lost the malpositioned one its beak was to the opposite side to air cell and it didn't manage to bruise let alone pip 😢
But one duckling has hatched the other is nearly there but got his foot above his head I started to assist but there's some tiny blood vessels still and one bled a tiny bit so I've put him back in he's getting annoyed cos he wants out though and can't push just keeps stretching his neck and wing out should I wait longer? If there’s still veining, I’d put him back for a little while, but watch his bill very close and make sure he can still breathe. Sometimes they get confused and twist around into a bad position. I’m not sure he’ll be able to push out like this, so you’ll want to chip above where his head is and try to get his head out. Once his head is out, you can put him back again and see if he’ll push out on his own.
So sorry about the malpositioned one :hugs

I managed to free his foot a little bit so it wasn't squahing its face and it seemed alot happier once I did that then he's been back in incubator for about an hour now im going to go have a look see if I can get his head free will let you know how he's doing.

Thanks hun there way really nothing I could do though I really tried she was on the small side as well I wonder if that's because there wasn't as much growing room with the air cell zx

I've attached a pic then I've tried to remove the egg round his foot and head there's some very tiny veins so I've put him back in is there a way to free his head easily from this position I don't want to hurt him
