Lockdown tomorrow, question about humidity

1 baby hatched! Not sure what happened to the other ones :(

It's very sad :(

I have 12 more eggs coming tomorrow so they will go into the bator and we'll see what happens.

I bought my wife a sportsman 1510. She is on her first hatching with 12 eggs to make sure that she has the process down. They have been moved into the hatching tray and after candling them, it looks like 11 of them may be viable. We should know by Saturday .

Hello everyone,

Day 18 tomorrow of my first hatch using an incubator and I have a question about humidity. I have an incubator with water channels at the bottom of the incubator. I've been advised to fill up all the channels to keep the humidity up. Is this correct? Obviously I am not meant to disturb the eggs from day 18 but in order for me to make sure the channels are still full up I'd have to take the incubator lid off at maybe day 20 .. Do I have to do that? What is the procedure?

Thank you
For any future batches...
There are threads here and a boat-load of YouTube videos about placing 'scrunched' up paper towels in the channels of your bator to create a greater surface area to hold water.
Some also place paper towels on the mesh grid itself to transfer moisture closer to hatching chicks.....I also agree with previous post that you do not have to remove lid to add water, use those holes to your advantage.
