Lockdown

4 pips and 4 hatches today out of 11 eggs in the incubator. Oh emm geee I'm in love!! They are so adorable. The 4th is trying to get out of his egg chair right now. It looks like one of the shipped eggs pipped down towards the bottom of egg carton, but can't see well. Now to wait on the others.

Update on lockdown! I just noticed two pips one is on the side that is facing down is that a bad thing and how long before they totally break out? I'm getting worried ;-(

Some times it can take 24 hours +/- for it to break out after pip. Facing down has Never effected my hatch. Good Luck
What he said! lol

When I go into lockdown I mark my eggs to get an idea of where they should pip and then face them up so they should pip face up and I can see. When I have eggs get rolled by hatchers I roll it back up. There has only ever been once that I had a pipper not hatch and that was the guinea hatch I did for my nephew. I had to go out of town a couple hours and I had 2 fresh hatchers in the bator and a pipped egg. when I came back the pipped egg was turned down and the chick was gone. It could just be coincidence, but I swear, the only time I lost an already pipped egg was the one I wasn't here to turn back up. Most people don't have problems with face down pippers being ok. I'm a natural meddler so I just have never taken the chance, plus I can't see them if they are down...lol

One has hatched two are trying to get out its so exciting :) My next question is when do I remove the one that hatched? He's going crazy lol

Wait until it has fluffed up. It will take at least a few hours. But grab it quick so you don't let the heat and humidity out. I left mine in for up to 6 hours when it hatched in the middle of the night. You don't want to open it right after the others hatch though, they will be super wet. So either grab him before or leave him til the others fluff up a bit. So much fun!!!
