Hi so today is officially day 16 for my silkies and I’ve kind of got from numerous researching that day 16 is a great day to start lockdown for them now I’ve read that you need a non slip mat for when they hatch stop there lil toe beans getting stuck problem is I don’t have any and bit of a tight week paid on Monday I have kitchen roll would that be okay ? Pic of incubator for show also the turning rods just lift off , thanks in advance

I don't know if a paper towel would be a good idea because they are ment to absorb moisture 🤔 hopefully someone who knows more than me comes along. What I use is cabinet liners and it works great plus it's cheap. My dollar tree has some or Walmart it's normally under $5.00 at Walmart unless you get the really big roll.

The stuff @AshVau22 linked is similar to what we use. It prevents them slipping on the floor of the incubator too, which can cause splayed legs.

I usually lock down my silkies on Day 16 or 17. I stagger hatch so it depends. If the hatcher is open on Day 16, they go in then.

The earliest I had pip was on Day 18, and the latest was day 23, but both were rare. I commonly have pippers on day 19, like the batch right now is due tomorrow, and 2 of 20 are out.
