Solved Locking threads after a year

Perfect point. One thread hasn't had a response in 10 years and only still has one active member while the other is 8 years dormant.
Just because you touched on a topic 10 years ago and you came to a conclusion does that mean you never revisit it?
Do your research and gather what relevant information you can to your situation but start a new thread and put new eyes on the same old question.

We just see things differently.
I like forums because of the interactive aspect of them. iMO locking threads (any threads) defeats the purpose of that.
If I just wanted to read info without being able to ask questions or comment there's more then enough other types of sites for that.
I like forums and especially BYC because I can be a part of them. New or ancient doesn't matter to me. If I want to reply I can if I don't I won't.
Locking threads just takes away what a forum is supposed to be IMO.

Maybe locking threads within certain forums could be considered? For instance in the "What Breed or Gender" forum you'll see things literally from years ago circulate back up with someone posting their own images instead of starting anew thread (which I believe is encouraged in that forum) or asking for an update because they have a bird that's stumping them when a few simple mouse clicks can show the original poster hasn't been an active member in well over three years or whatever.

The threads are still searchable. And should you choose to create your own there's no reason you can't link the locked thread to your own. I do that a lot when I'm trying to educate new members when they ask questions I know I answered fifteen years ago...lol Or when I know there are threads with information I want people to see. But I know bumping the thread up is counter-productive as most of the original members on the thread aren't active. Look up missprissy and any of her BBS Orpington threads for a perfect example of some amazing breeders and bloodlines and the frustration of not being able to talk to them or get eggs/chicks. lol

I just happened to see this thread moments ago.

I have question

I have a thread that goes back before 2017 I believe just don't remember. My Rooster got sick and died. What do I do with this one? Can we change the title and put current chicks in this thread. Eight baby chicks this year.
