Locust leaves poisonous?

My chickens are mostly in the coop due to predators but when I let them out they go crazy for what I think are locust leaves. Here is a picture to confirm. I'm reading mixed things online if this is safe for them or not. They gobble them up so I hope they are not poisonous. Can they eat these?! Thanks!

How do they eat the leaves of a locust ? Locust is a tree.

The leaves fall on the ground.

Do you have a phone app that gives a positive id? I have read black locusts leaves are toxic but have no way to identify the tree myself.There are several different types of locusts

It seems to be black locust

I wouldn't let the chickens eat it if you suspect they're locust sprouts and leaves

Hmm ok. That's too bad that I guess I shouldn't let them free range at all then. Was hoping to let them out and about for supervised times.

That isn't locust of either type, the leaves are to big and not even close to being right.

While I've seen my chickens eat a few things they shouldn't it didn't appear to hurt them. The more plants they have to select from the less they'll eat of one thing

My chickens have never eaten something that made them sick.Maybe you need to download an app if you're concerned.That may help
