My Jersey lost her butt feathers like that too! It looks normal to me, but my Jersey squatted a lot probably because feathers that grow in are painful... growing huge feathers around her vent is painful. It's also pretty cold there for her. It's good shes being kept inside.

How long until those feathers come in? Maybe that is why she's walking so funny? Her rear end hurts? Maybe it's more comfortable to walk sideways?

Possibly, and cold weather probably makes them feel down especially when they molt butt feathers.

Thanks guys! I think my girl is still improving. I saw her walk in a straight line yesterday and that is fabulous! So, tomorrow is going to get up to 50 degrees, I think I'm going to try to get her back outside at least for the day. I don't want her to get used to indoor temp and then a huge shock going out in 30 degree weather. If she does well I will put her out every day for about a week to help her acclimate to the temp and see how it goes. Right now, I feel like she's out of the woods, tomorrow will be a big test. I'm praying she's back to normal.

Oh, also I wanted to throw this out there...it seems...not sure how to verify but it seems like she's blind in one eye. I'm wondering if she got into something that caused all this mess and it partially blinded her. Maybe that is why she's been walking sideways...she can't see? Hmmmmm?

I put Lola outside today since it was so nice...mid 50's. Of course Ms. I'm the boss of everyone, Thelma didn't take too kindly to her. A few feathers flew but she kept going after her. So Thelma is now in Lola's old room for the night...got that great advice from managing your flock. Man I love this site! She is walking in a straight line and feeling so much better.

She's tiny though, needs some groceries on that little body.

I just wanted to thank everyone who gave me advice, rooted her on and simply let me know that they were there for me. I cannot tell you how much you ALL have help me through this. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
