I put a mirror and a couple stuffed animals in there with the little chick. She goes over and talks to the mirror. I am not sure when I set the coturnix, but I think they're due any time now. I was able to see inside a couple and they looked close. I put them in the improved hatcher. I really hope for this little bob white that they'll hatch out tomorrow.
I have never seen such a busy little chick. Running around, crying, jumping. When I put my hand in there, she gets on it and she did fall asleep in my hand. It's a good thing she can go a few days without food, as she's not all that interested in the crumbles on the paper towels in her brooder. She did get a little drink of water. Poor little thing.
I tried putting a couple/3 week old coturnix in there and all she wanted to do was eat the crumbles. The little black bob white would run over and try to get under the older chick and she'd run and hop and fly away from her. So I took the coturnix out, I didn't want to leave them together anyway. I was really just trying to comfort the little 10 hour old baby.
Thanks, BirdBoy88, that's good to know that very soon, she'll have some company.
